Naturally Clear News, Issue #006 -- January 2010 - Happy New Year!
January 12, 2010
Hello Friends!

Welcome to our Naturally Clear News January 2010 update!

Is anyone else having a little trouble getting "back into the swing of things" since the holidays? :-) I'm still moving pretty slowly, or perhaps that is natural to want to rest as we're here in the middle of a very chilly winter!

My husband and I did manage a short trip to the Oregon coast which was a delight, and whenever I remember those gorgeous ocean waves, it's enough to relax me no matter what else might be going on!

Our bodies do respond to the seasons, just as plants do! I encourage you to try to take even a few minutes of extra rest if you are feeling more tired at this time of year ... even if it's not winter where you are! :-)

Newest Home Recipes for Dry Sensitive Skin

Whether it is winter or summer where you are, more extreme temperatures can affect your skin. If you have very sensitive skin, sometimes the simplest solutions work best. These are some home recipes for dry, sensitive skin which can have very few ingredients, and which can help moisturize without causing irritation.

Please remember that even though these are made from natural ingredients, you need to do a skin test first before using them. Even simple ingredients like aloe vera, honey or avocado can cause a reaction for some people.

Facial Mask For Dry Skin

3 parts powdered milk to 1 part each honey and aloe vera gel. Apply to face and let site for ten to twenty minutes, rinse with warm water. If you have milk allergies, try it without the milk.

Avocado Honey Mask

Blend a small amount of ripe avocado with honey and apply to your face. Leave on for ten to twenty minutes and rinse with warm water. If your skin is very sensitive, try just the avocado or just the honey to start. If neither causes a reaction, try using them together!

Oatmeal Facial Mask

Grind some rolled oats in a food processor or blender and add enough water to make a paste. Apply to clean skin and let sit for ten to twenty minutes, then rinse with warm water. You can also add a small amount of full fat, organic yogurt for extra moisture and exfoliating, if you are not allergic to dairy products.

Natural Moisturizers for Dry Skin

If your skin is reacting to absolutely everything you put on it, try using just ONE ingredient at a time, and see how your skin reacts. Some options for gentle moisturizing include:

Shea Butter - smooth and non-greasy, excellent for sensitive skin.

Jojoba oil - one of the least greasy natural vegetable oils, it absorbs well. This can be irritating for some people, for example I can't use on my face because it irritates my eyes.

Emu oil - is more expensive, and is an animal product, but is also non-greasy and has anti-inflammatory properties which can help to calm d own skin inflammation.
