Could you send me a list of salicylate free make up and body products please?

Our reply

Hi, and thanks for your message. The most popular salicylate free products on our site are from ***z-cleure.shtml*** which offers cosmetics, skin care, hair care, body care and dental products. They are unique among most salicylate free lines as they make an effort to avoid more irritating chemical preservatives such as parabens, fragrances, and artificial colorings.

You can learn more about the different choices here at our Salicylate Free Products page.

Are These Oils Salicylate Free or Not?

o you know if Jojoba and Calendula or Marigold are salicylate free or not?

Love this site.

Our reply

Thanks for your message and your warm words about our site! I did some research on the salicylate content of various oils, and as far as I can tell, Marigold oil, Calendula oil and Jojoba oil all contain salicylates, although I cannot be absolutely sure since there seem to be several different standards by which substances are measure to be salicylate free or low in salicylates. If you are sensitive to salicylates or have a salicylate allergy, then please check with your doctor to be sure.

As best as I can tell from my online research, sunflower, safflower, sesame, coconut oils are low salicylate oils which MAY be alright to use in soaps, shampoos and cleansers that can be immediately rinsed off the skin, IF you are simply looking to lower the salicylates you are exposed to. The guidelines are to lather and rinse quickly, and not leave them on your skin. These oils are apparently NOT OK to use topically in skin lotions or creams that will stay on your skin. We have a section on salicylate free products which may be helpful to you in learning more.

Which brand of Salicylate Free Products?

by Lynda
(Pasadena)

Hello,

I'm so glad I found your website !

I just discovered that I'm allergic to Salicylates in cosmetics and food as well (what a nightmare !) and, of course very sensitive with other chemicals. I'm looking for a safe brand for makeup and moisturizer ? You mention that there is only one brand, so which one is it ? Cleure ? Andrea Rose ? ...

I bought a foundation from Neutrogena a few weeks ago, and that's how I found out that I was allergic to Salicylates.

Now I have a big rash on my face !

Please help me ?!

Thanks in advance
Lynda

Our reply

Hi Lynda, and thanks for your message. I'm so sorry to hear about your facial rash.

So far in my research, the only brand of salicylate free products I have found that do not contain parabens and other chemical irritants is Cleure which makes salicylate free skincare, hair care, personal care, dental and cosmetic products. Their newest versions of their products are great quality, affordable, hypoallergenic (no plant allergens or salicylates) and do not contain parabens or other chemical irritants.

Cleure does have some older product formulations may contain parabens or other ingredients which that they are phasing out, for example the liquid foundation in their cosmetics section, and some of their bargain basement section. These are marked clearly in the ingredients.

The other brands of salicylate free products that I've seen (as of my most recent research) all contain ingredients in their products that I prefer to avoid. Skin care companies are always updating their product lines, so your safest choice is always to read the labels, read our Safe Cosmetics Guide and get acquainted with some of the ingredients that you may want to avoid if you have sensitive skin.

I hope that this is helpful to you in clearing up your skin. You can learn more in our salicylate free products section.

Recommendations for Doctors Familiar with Salicylate Allergy?

Please tell me how to find out if I have salicylate allergy, or intolerance to gluten, wheat or other foods. Thank you.

Our reply

Thank you for your message. A medical doctor or naturopathic doctor who is familiar with allergies, and specifically salicylate allergy will be the most helpful to you in assessing your sensitivities. Not all doctors are familiar with salicylate allergy so you will need to ask the doctor or find someone who is knowledgeable about this. Does anyone here have suggestions?
